Hawkeye was one of the new first recruits during The Avengers first recruiting dive. He has been on the main Avengers team, the West Coast Avengers, the New Avengers, and is currently the leader of the Secret Avengers.

Most commonly known as an X-Men, Wolverine is one of the members of The New Avengers.
The Avengers Spider-Man
Note: I am ranking each character on how good of an Avenger they are but if I was ranking them by my favorite hero Spider-Man would easily be number two.
Who does not like "Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" although not an Avenger until recently. Spider-Man definately should make the list.
The Avengers Hulk
Another one of the founding members of The Avengers, Hulk soon left after Captain America joined the team due to his anger management problems.
The Avengers Thor
Always one of the power players in The Avengers roster, Thor's brother Loki brought the team together to form the original Avengers team.
The Avengers Iron Man
Thanks to the greatness of the recent Iron Man movie, he has become a house-hold name. Before Iron Man was almost B-lister in the superhero world and his movie started The Avengers Initiative. He has been the leader of the team on multiple occasions.
The Avengers Captain America
My personal favorite hero of all-time Captain America. Although not one of the very first Avengers, it did not take Cap long to become the mist well known Avenger. His first modern day appearance has in The Avengers comic.
The Avengers Quicksliver
Son of the infamous Magneto and former villain of the X-Men. He later reformed and became one of the first Avengers during the first recruitment drive in the 60s. Although it would be his sister that Wand, aka Scarlett Witch, that would make the biggest impact on team.
The Avengers She-Hulk
She-Hulk is actually the of Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk. Through a blood transfusion to save her life with her cousin Bruce gave her Hulk like abilities without the angry management problems.
The Avengers The Thing
Although he is better know for his time with the Fantastic Four The Thing is a member of the New Avengers. If I were ranking best heroes not best Avengers he would rank much higher on the list.
The Avengers Wonder Man
One of the lesser known Avengers despite making a sizable impact, Wonder Man has been a villain of The Avengers and a important team member.
The Avengers Black Knight
Carrying the Ebony Blade forged by the Wizard Merlin, which makes its user unkillable. Black Knight is a formidable member of The Avengers and joined the team in the late 60s.
The Avengers Hercules
And you thought that Thor and Asgard were the only characters from mythology that are also Marvel characters. Just like Thor the Asardians, Hercules and his fellow Olympians are to a lesser degree a part of the Marvel Universe. There is even a portal to Olympia in the Nine Relms of Asgard.

A former agent of H.Y.D.R.A., and the daughter of one of H.Y.D.R.A.'s leaders. She is member of both The New Avengers and the original Avengers team.

James "Rhodey" Rhodes has wore both the Iron Man armor and War Machine as an Avenger and would be a likely candidate for a Avengers sequel.
The Avengers Nick Fury
Although not technically a member of The Avengers, he still should be included on the list. In the original comic book version Nick Fury had nothing to do with forming The Avengers, he was not even an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. until after The Avengers, however he did work with The Avengers many times. The more commonly known Ultimate version of Nick Fury is the one used in the The Avengers movies.

One of the more likely Avengers to appear in an Avengers sequel. Ms. Marvel has had many aliases and is one of the more popular female Marvel characters.

Although being most often known as a member of the X-Men. Beast is a long time member of The Avengers and a current member of the Secret Avengers.

One of the founding members of The Avengers and wife of fellow Avenger Hank Pym. Wasp and Pym are the two most important Avengers not to make to make a big screen appearance

Created by the villain Ultron to destroy The Avengers and based on the brain patterns of Wonder Man, and used the body of the original Human Touch android Vision turned on his creator and became a member of The Avengers.
The Avengers Hank Pym
One of the founding members of The Avengers Hank Pym has had many aliases including: Ant-Man, Giant Man, Goliath and Yellow jacket. The brilliant scientist who created "Pym Particles" that gives him the ability to grow an enormous size and shrink to the size of an Ant. Although he is not a likable at character at all, considering some of his personality traits, he would make Tony Stark/Iron Man seem like a nice guy.
